Call of Duty: Mobile is an addictive multiplayer game that even the most casual mobile player can enjoy, but also one that even hardcore console players like myself might find to be surprisingly compelling. Developed by Tencent’s Timi Studios, Call of Duty: Mobile launched worldwide on 1 October as a free-to-play game for Android and iOS devices.
Call of Duty: Mobile is here, and with it comes the inevitable comparison with PUBG Mobile. And let’s not mince words here. Call of Duty: Mobile certainly feels better. Be it the element of realism, the sheer variety of game modes, and the diversity of combat experience, Call of Duty: Mobile feels like an altogether different experience. Sounds unfair to PUBG Mobile? Well, PUBG Mobile might have popularised battle royale, but Call of Duty: Mobile does it better. The stark difference – and by that we mean the gameplay quality bridge between Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile – is quite evident from the get-go, and it’s a bit surprising since Tencent Games is the party behind both games.
Now that we’ve crossed the PUBG mobile comparison bridge, let’s get into Call of duty: Mobile, and briefly go through what makes it one of the best FPS mobile games out there. If you’re familiar with Call of Duty on PC, you’ll feel at home, as Activision and Tencent have done an admirable job of bringing that experience to mobile. Talking about the game modes, you can choose between Battle Royale (unlocks at level 5), Free-For-All, Frontline, Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, and Domination.
What is Call of Duty: Mobile gameplay like??
It looks like the game will feature 60fps gameplay, it offers multiplayer modes, and several classic Call of Duty maps like Nuke town, Crash, Hijacked, Crossfire, Standoff, Kill house, and Firing Range. You will also be able to play as many iconic characters from the franchise, such as Price and Ghost.
Call of Duty: Mobile’s Battle Royale mode will work as expected with a few welcome additions. The mode supports up to 100 players in single, two-person, or four-person teams who will fight in maps designed exclusively for the game. Players will fight as one of several different classes including Defender, Mechanic, Scout, Clown, Medic, and Ninja. Maps pit players against one another across land, sea, and air with ATVs, helicopters, and tactical rafts.
Can I play COD Mobile with my friends online??
One of the biggest draws to the Call of Duty franchise in the past has been the multiplayer online gameplay. Call of Duty: Mobile is no different, and players can compete alongside or against friends and strangers from all over the world. At this point, we aren’t sure if Android and iOS versions will support cross-play or if players will be matched up with people on the same platform.
CALL OF DUTY VS PUBG
Call Of Duty
There were no lags, and COD Mobile had better graphics on both budget and high-end smartphones. Increasing frame rate and graphics will hurt the gaming experience with visible lags. That ruins the gaming experience altogether.
PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile provide the same control layout with options for plenty of customizations. One key difference is that in Call of Duty Mobile, you can choose to shoot bullets automatically when you point the crosshair at the target. That’s way too easy and not at all fun but newbie-friendly.
Starting with PUBG, there is the battle royale, which is the most popular format. About 100 players will parachute on an island and scrap what they can find, four maps to choose from, and battle it out for survival. There is an Evo Ground map for zombie lovers. And then there is an Arcade mode where the number drops to 28 players.
The maps are also smaller, and weapons are limited. No time to loot. Intense and fast. Inside Arcade, there is a War mode where again, 100 players land but in a confined area. It’s annoying when you jump from the plane every time you spawn.
In Call of Duty Mobile, there is Multiplayer and Battleground. In Multiplayer, Frontline and Deathmatch are team matches where you play in a small map in a 5 against 5 settings. The only difference is that in the latter, you don’t respawn.
Two new modes are Domination and Search & Destroy. In Domination, you will need to capture key points on the map. In Search and Destroy, you need to detonate a location on the map or kill all your opponents.
PUBG Mobile is an excellent battle royale game, but Call of Duty Mobile offers improved graphics and fun. The visual effects and textures are rich, the maps are detailed, the gameplay is more realistic, and the characters are iconic and have more personality in them. No wonder I found about half of friends on it on the very first day.
